Look beyond a low starter package. Ask what is included and what extra training, reassessment or rescheduling may cost.
Check the school carefully
Verify approval, vehicle, instructor attention, policies, reviews and how the provider handles learners who need more practice.
Check TAFE first
Current fee-free or subsidised training may offer excellent value, but entry rules, locations, places and schedules vary.
Know every stage
Eligibility, forms, eyesight, training, readiness, assessment and licence endorsement each have their own requirements.
Use a realistic timeframe
Hours advertised are not a pass guarantee. Prior experience, vehicle familiarity, gearbox and consistency all matter.

“Guaranteed licence today”
No trainer can honestly guarantee an independent assessment result. A short course may suit an experienced learner, but readiness must be demonstrated.
“Pay now; details later”
You should be able to see inclusions, extra-hour pricing, cancellation terms, vehicle and gearbox before paying.
“Everyone needs the same hours”
Competency-based training should respond to the individual. Some need fewer hours; some need more.
“We cannot show approval”
For RTO-delivered pathways, verify the provider and relevant scope. MC assessment must be through a Transport WA-approved RTO.

- How do you decide whether I am ready for assessment?
- What is the rate and booking rule if I need more training?
- Which vehicle and gearbox will I train and assess in?
- Who conducts the assessment, and what happens if I do not pass?
