Transparent booking guide

Truck licence training costs in Perth: what to compare

There is no single honest price for every learner. Compare what is included, what may be added and how readiness affects the likely total.

The real equation

Likely total = training + assessment + possible extra time

Training package

Check the number and length of sessions, theory or briefing, vehicle use, materials and whether GST is included.

Assessment and licence fees

Ask whether the practical assessment, application, restriction removal or other government/provider charges are included.

Contingency

Budget for extra practice, rescheduling or reassessment. A transparent provider explains these possibilities before booking.

Do not compare headline prices alone. A lower package can cost more overall when fewer hours are included or extra time is priced at a higher rate.
Request a written quote

Ask for these eight items

  • Total training time and session length
  • Vehicle class, configuration and gearbox
  • Whether assessment and vehicle use are included
  • Extra training hourly rate and minimum booking
  • Reassessment and rescheduling charges
  • Cancellation, lateness and refund terms
  • Government or licence fees not included
  • Whether the price changes through a referral
Why quotes differ

Price reflects more than the licence class

Your starting point

Manual, synchromesh, reversing, trailer and recent heavy-vehicle experience can change the useful amount of practice.

The training vehicle

Configuration, size, condition, operating costs and access to a compliant assessment vehicle influence provider costs.

Training quality

Dedicated instructor attention, structured feedback and realistic assessment preparation may have more value than rushed low-cost hours.

Booking flexibility

Weekend, urgent, split-session or regional availability may be priced differently. Get the arrangement in writing.

Reduce cost safely

Prepare before paid vehicle time

  1. Read the official assessment information and vehicle-class rules.
  2. Know the inspection sequence and terminology before the practical session.
  3. Review coupling, uncoupling and gearbox concepts relevant to your class.
  4. Sleep properly, arrive early and bring every required document.
  5. Ask for specific feedback after each session and practise only where legal and properly supervised.
Current fees

Check official and provider prices on the day

Transport WA publishes current licence and assessment fees, while RTOs set their own training and service charges. Figures can change, so we do not present a static “from” price as a guarantee.

WA Truck Training does not set provider prices. A referral fee may be received only where disclosed; ask for the total customer price before confirming.
