A standard forklift truck and an order-picking forklift are different high-risk work classes. The correct course must match the plant you will operate. Competence in the unit supports the licence process but does not by itself issue the High Risk Work Licence.
- Training reference: TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck (LF) and TLILIC0004 Licence to operate an order picking forklift truck (LO).
- Typical outcome: Successful training and assessment are required before applying for the relevant High Risk Work Licence through WorkSafe WA.
- Important: A person performing this high-risk work must hold the applicable HRWL. Employer/site induction and authorisation may also be required.

What is the difference between LF and LO?
LF covers forklift trucks such as counterbalance and reach types. LO covers order-picking forklifts where the operator platform elevates with the load carriage.
Does passing the course automatically issue the licence?
No. Successful training and assessment support the separate WorkSafe WA HRWL application process.
Can I drive a forklift at work without a licence?
High-risk forklift work requires the applicable HRWL, subject to limited training arrangements under supervision.
